 Perak Darul Ridzuan


Perak Darul  Redzuan , the Land of  Grace is situated along the West Coast of Malaysia. Perak which mean silver in Malay, is said to have derived its name from the silvery tin ore that brought great wealth and prosperity to the state. Archeological  discoveries indicate that Perak has been  inhabited since prehistoric time.  The legendary of a Hindu – Malay Kingdom called Gangga Negara was said to be at the northwest of Perak . 

Historically, Perak was active with its tin mining activities. It was once the richest state of tin depositions  in the world. Due to the price plummented , has forced the closing down of this lucerative mines and economically  turned the state into argricultural and manufacturing sectors. Perak is synonim with the fresh water fish specialities.  The leftover tin mine crates , the lakes , the Perak River and its smaller streams surround make suitable environment  for most of the fresh water spicies to breed. You can find  the Grasscarp,  the wild Tilapia , the Jelawat , Tengalan, Loma , Tengas Daun , the exotic Kelah , Temoleh and many more available here throughout the seasons . 

Kuala Kangsar,  the Royal Town , stands by the bank of the Perak River is famous for its fresh river catch.  Huge Yellow Tail Catfish ( Patin )  can be found sold by the local angler on every Friday morning at the morning market , next  to the river bank .  Most of the stalls  around the areas also have  cooked  and grilled fresh water fishes as their delicacies . Besides cooking  and grillings ,  the fishes are turned  into ‘ Perkasam’’. It is a type of fermented dish , that is very popular  among the local folks.  Besides the fresh water fishes, the local  Asam Laksa  is also a trademark  to  the  humble town. The Asam Laksa is  majorly sold  as entrees  , perfect to those who favor hot and sour food .
