Malacca
The historic city , Malacca , is well known for its more than 600 years of histories , proven through the existance of the old buildings , interesting roads , delicious food and the unique cultural heritage. The history of Malacca begins in the year of 1403 , with the arrival of Parameswara , a Hindu prince of Sri Vijaya in Sumatera. He was then named Raja Iskandar, once embraced Islam. He became the first ruler to the state and mark the beginning of the Malacca Sultanate.
During his reigned , Malacca developed as the busiest international maritime commercial hub that resulted with mass settlement of Chinese from the imperial and merchant fleet. At its height, Malacca was the struggle among strong powers like The Portugese , The Dutch and The British. The Portugese reigned in Malacca for 130 years , taken over by The Dutch for 150 years while The British settlement was after the World War II. These has therefore decorating Malacca with mix multicultural societies that comprises the Baba Nyonya , the ethnic Potugese and the originals, the Malays.
Malacca is well known for its local traditional dishes such as the Asam Pedas , the Sambal Belacan and the Cencaluk. There are also the Baba Nyonya’s cuisines and Devils Curry of the Potugese colonists and not forgetting the ikan bakar ( Grilled Fish / Seafood )at the fisherman village in Umbai, Sekam and Alai.
