Pahang , the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia , occupying the huge Pahang River river basin. Nearly two thirds of the state is covered with magnificant rainforest enclave of lush greeny, exotic wildlife and natural treasures. Geographically it is devided into the highlands , the rainforest and the coastal areas. The Cameron Highlands, one of its highland attractions, reknown for its coolest temperates, is a home to extensive tea plantation. The famous lakes , Tasik Bera , is important for its rich freshwater peat. While the Tasik Cini is a home to a legend. The costal areas are the home for turtle harvest. Due to its extinction , conversation programs are carried out to ensure this endangered spicies are protected. In some occasions the turtle eggs are available for consumptions. It is sold either raw or boiled with price doubled.
Like Perak , Pahang is recognised for its fresh water fish. Fish caught from the Pahang River are sold along the roadside by the river bank. The most famous catch is the Ikan Patin ( Yellow Tail Catfish ). There is evidence of nomadic tribes living in Pahang area during Mesolithic era. The Siamese abroginies tribe used to live here and open up few mining areas, especially in Sungai Lembing and the population of the Semelai , the orang Asli, in the area of Tasik Bera, it is believed that the cuisines of Pahang are the influnced of the origins of these populations.
