Terengganu
Hailed as ‘ The Gem of The East Coast ‘, Terengganu , a state which overlooks the South China Sea on the East Coast of the Peninsular Malaysia.
It is known for its strong Malay culture and traditional passtimes such as kite flying , top spinning and batik printing. Mainly, the rural folks depend on fishing as their livelyhood . The fishes are sold in the local market with some are made into keropok.
Terengganu produces variety of delicious Keropok ( Fish Crackers ). They are made from variable types of fish es and come in different forms. There are the thin slices fish crackers, finger strip fish crackers , the longer version of a dough type or the smaller cutlets . These Keropok are fried and served with sweet or hot chili dip.
Terengganu is also famous for its traditional ‘Satar ‘. A dish made of blended broiled fish meat with other local condiments. Wrapped in a triangular shape of the banana leaf , it is grilled and eaten as it is. There is also the Terengganu version of Nasi Dagang which is the opposed of the Kelantan’s version.
