Nasi Dagang ( Dagang Rice )
The Kelantan Nasi Dagang is specially made of the special dagang brown rice . The ingredients is similar to that of the Nasi Lemak with coconut milk and other spices that gave its beautiful and aromatic flavor . Unlike the popular Nasi Lemak , the rice is steamed instead of boiled . It is served with either yellowed gravy tuna fish or chicken curried dish . Slices of boiled eggs and cucumber are often added . The nasi dagang is normally served as breakfast or as main dish during festives or special occasions .

Method Slowly cook the thick coconut milk with the sliced ingredients and a t/spoon of fenugreeek seed over low to med heat . Add in enough salt to taste. Drain the soaked rice and put it in a container. Spoon in a cup of light coconut milk and mix it with the rice . Steam the rice to half cook . Once cooked , bring it out from the steamer and pour in the thick coconut milk . Use the back of a ladle to mix the milk thoroughly . Steam the rice again for another 10 - 15 minutes . The rice is ready, once the texture change to soft and fluffy. * You can substitute the coconut milk with either fresh or low fat milk |
