Kedah

An alluring  destination in the far north of  Peninsular Malaysia , is the state Kedah.. With  its vast expanses of panaromic landscape , Kedah ,as   Malaysia’s main rice producing state is dominated by paddy fields , dotted with traditional Malay wooden homes. Said to be the oldest state in the country , Kedah civilisation dating back to the 5th Century AD. Argriculture  is the main activity of Kedah. Most of the locals depend  on crops for livelyhood. The Kedahans  love to  fish  fresh  fishes  from  the cannals.  They also have local  green veges, which is wildly grown  around  the  padi  fields and its surroundings  as their daily  delicacies . A delicious  ‘Kerabu ‘, made  from  the  kind of  caladium  which are  found  in  the  padi  fields , the ‘ Gulai  Rempah ‘ of  the  wild banana  trunk , the fresh  perkasam  fish  as well as  the well  known  Laksa  Kuala Kedah , add up to the list of  Kedah 's  traditional  dishes. Nonetheless , there are the local snacks derived from the rice grains  such as the ‘Empings ‘, ‘Bipang’ and ‘ Putu Beras’  among the must have snacks for visitors who  flock ed  here .
