Herbs
Herbs are plants whose leaves or seeds are used in medicine or cooking. Herbs are produced from the stem and leaves of a plant.Traditionally,it is part of the list of ingredients in Malay cooking. Most of the local Malaysian's herbs are wildly grown.They can be found in paddy fields, on field, in forest by the river banks or even at your own lawn.The plants are either a big tree, shrub or creepers. They are determined by their taste, scent, the shape as well as their leaves color. Most herbs are added for these properties.These will therefore make the cooking taste better. Creating a beautiful scent of aroma while improving its taste and texture. Some of the dishes that used herbs as ingredients are the Masak Lemak (Coconut Creamy Dish), Asam Pedas (Sour And Spicy Broth), Nasi Ulam (Herbal Rice) and Kerabu (Herbal Salad).
Herbs also contained medicinal properties. In tradition, some herbs are consumed to control blood sugar level for diabetic sufferers,to reduce high blood pressure,to prevent cancer and stone in bladder.They are eaten raw or make into herbal juice.
